WHAT'S GOING ON

It was too much work to do actual research, so I will make up stuff.

It all began when President Bashar Al-Assad ate too much chocolate. As a result of his chocolate-induced frenzy, he bombed his citizens. But he did not realize what had truly occurred when his frenzy subsided. When a chicken figured out that the president had such a drastic reaction to chocolate, he secretly implanted 7000 bars of melted chocolate to his soup until the chocolate frenzy remained forever. This particular chocolate affected him in such a way that he became irrational (Like pi) and did things that made no sense.

Ok, so now I'll tell the truth.

The war all began after armed forces attacked protesters rallying after the arrest and torture of several teenagers who painted revolutionary slogans on a school wall. According to an article published by BBC,  "Violence escalated and the country descended into civil war as rebel brigades were formed to battle government forces for control of cities, towns and the countryside” (Rodgers; Offer; Critten; Asare). Both sides have committed horrendous crimes including torture, rape, and murder. According to an article in written for Channel 4 News, “The Jordanian Ministry of Health ... stopped funding free medical aid to Syrian Refugees” As a result, Syrians must pay for medical care themselves, depleting into their already limited wallets. (Ward).  Desperate women throughout Syria suffer from sexual harassment and domestic abuse by landlords who exploit them for their inability to pay rent. In addition, girls as young as 12 years old are getting married in exchange for money (Ward). If they refuse, they are severely beaten by their families. Thousands of civilians have been killed by bombs dropped by government aircraft, as well as weapons containing dangerous chemicals. Millions attempt to flee the war ravaged Syria. But even when they do succeed in escaping Syria, the suffering does not stop there. The massive amount of refugees who inhabit camps throughout other countries causes diseases to quickly spread, causing pain and suffering (MSF). In fact, some Syrians would prefer to return to their homeland rather than endure poverty and malnutrition, which both often occur in refugee camps (Knell).
